Insurance Compact Announces Appointment of Vice Chair for Remaining 2026 Term
Nevada Insurance Commissioner Ned Gaines Appointed Insurance Compact Vice Chair
On behalf of Insurance Compact Commission Chair Director Eric Dunning, please congratulate Nevada Commissioner Ned Gaines on his appointment to fill the vacant office of Compact Vice Chair.
West Virginia Commissioner Allan McVey's retirement created a vacancy in the office of Compact Vice Chair; Commissioner McVey served in that role since July 2024. Pursuant to Article IV, Section 1 of the Compact Bylaws, the Chair is authorized to appoint a Management Committee member to fill the vacancy until the Commission's next annual meeting:
“In the event of a vacancy in an office, the chair shall appoint a member to fill the vacant office, and that person shall hold the vacated office for the unexpired term of his or her predecessor.”
Under the Compact Bylaws, only members of the Management Committee are eligible to serve as Compact officers. Commissioner Gaines serves on the Management Committee and was appointed by the Western Zone in June to represent states within the zone that account for less than 2% of the nationwide premium volume for authorized product lines under the Insurance Compact statute.
Effective July 1, Director Dunning appointed Commissioner Gaines to serve as Compact Vice Chair until the Commission's annual meeting in November.
