End of the Year Filing Reminders

12/6/19

Not sure where 2019 went? Neither are we! In this week's tip, the Insurance Compact Office has a few end-of-the-year reminders for filers as the month of December flies by.

As your company begins preparing filings for 2020, remember that all company filers registered in 2019 are still able to file with the Insurance Compact in the month of December, even as we are accepting 2020 registrations. Remember that form numbers must reflect the year in which a form is submitted for review, regardless of when a filing is expected to be approved. Forms submitted for review in December must use an ICC19 prefix; this does not change if review carries over into 2020. Compact requirements for form numbers are clear, consistent, and located in the Cover Page provision of all Uniform Standards.

Does your company have a tight implementation deadline? If your company requests approval by December 31, 2019, we ask that you review the Expedited Review Pilot program and submit a request in order to reach this deadline. We cannot guarantee approval will be obtained by the end of the year, as time to disposition depends on the condition of the filing, complexity of the filing, number of forms and time period in which responses are received. The Insurance Compact Office will verify eligibility upon request and may waive certain factors in connection with a year-end approval request. We expect the Expedited Review Pilot program to continue for 2020 product filing submissions as well.

For tight turnaround requests and any other filing, don't forget to utilize the Compact Best Practices checklist prior to submitting your filing. Look through the Ready for Review series of Weekly Tips, found in the Weekly Tip Archive, for more tips on how to ensure your product filing is as close to Compliant as possible at the time of submission.
