Documenting Form Issuance Timing

When filing rider, endorsement, or amendment forms, the Uniform Standards require companies to identify when the form(s) will be issued, specifically at the same time as the contract, after contract issue, or both. The timing of form issuance affects how other requirements are met. This requirement is applicable for both group and individual filings that contain these form types – riders, endorsement, or amendment. As a best practice, the information is best provided in the Filing Description in SERFF.

If this information is not detailed in the Filing Description, or otherwise documented clearly in the filing, during the Intake process you will receive a Compliance Issue asking for the timing of issuance of these forms. Making sure this information appears in the filing upon submission creates review efficiency and reduces time to approval of your filing.
